Complete Guide To Clean-Up Your C:// Drive

If your computer is in need of a hard drive clean-up and you're not sure how to perform one then that problem will no longer be one that you have. Below I am going to go step-by-step through the whole process. I hope that you find this post helpful and that you end up with some extra gigs of free space.

C:// Drive Clean-Up Instructions:

1. Go to "Start", "All Programs", "Accessories", "System Tools", and then to "Disk Cleanup".
If you can't find the "Disk Cleanup" application at this location then go to "Start" and find where it says "Search". Then go to "All files and folders" and type in Disk Cleanup; this should bring up the application and you'll be able to launch it from there.
2. Let the wizard calculate how much space can be cleaned up; be patient as it takes a while.
Here what your computer is doing is looking for file that it can compress, files that came with programs which you don't need, and temp. files as well. Don't worry there are no changes being done to your computer at this time.
3. Check each thing that you want to cleanup, but make sure to read the descriptions.
Once the window containing the things that you can cleanup you should go through each one carefully. Usually your temp folders will be full and you should delete these. The rest you can choose to explore although the descriptions will tell you if they recommend deleting those files or not.
4. Click "OK" once you're done and it will cleanup your C drive for you; be patient as it may take a while.
This is the final step to completing the disk cleanup and if you're still not happy with the space you have left on your C drive there are other alternatives but I hope that you are satisfied.

Note: If you want to see how much disk space you actually freed up go to "My Computer" and scroll over your C drive to see how much free space you have and after your disk cleanup go back and compare.
